Up for your consideration is this nice antique hand painted black lacquer Japanese jewelry box. It has usual offset legs that are inlaid with mother of pearl. It is lockable unfortunately the key has been misplaced. Please be sure to see all the other jewelry boxes we have listed.

FEATURES: This beautiful Japanese jewelry box is made of wood and is lacquered in a glossy black finish. It has two offset legs on in front and one in back, inlaid with mother of pearl and abalone flakes. The top of the box is hand painted with earthen tone colors depicting a lovely scene in Japan bordered with mother of pearl. The inside of the box is lined with a ribbed blue velour-like material. Inside the lid is a mirror that measures 3 and a half wide by 2 and a quarter inches tall. There is a lock on the front right side of the box. (However the lock does not come with a key). There are two metal hinges that work great.

ON THE BOTTOM: It has a round silver color rubber stamp that is the \"Makers Mark\" and reads \"MADE IN JAPAN\".

SIZE: The box dimensions including the outside legs are 6-1/8\" wide x 4-1/2\" deep x 2-7/8\" tall. The box itself is 5-1/4\" wide x 3-1/2\" deep x 2-1/2\" tall. The inside dimensions are 4-1/2\" x 3\" x 1-1/2 deep.

COLOR: The box base color is done in high gloss black. The colors of the inlaid shells vary from indigo blue to teal green. On the top of the box there is a red clay toned color for the distant land. There is a pine green patch of grass where the Japanese house sits with a navy blue roof. There are gold and red color accents. The trees, birds, river, and outside Environment are painted gold. The picture is bordered with a thin gold line and completes the scene. The inside fabric is a deep royal blue.

CONDITION:It comes to you in excellent condition. There is one spot on the right side of the lid where the original paint chipped off and it was touched up with black enamel nail polish. You really like the thing, but not so much the price...

I find cool stuff, do some research and list it for what I think it\'s worth. Sounds pretty simple but sometimes not. So if this is something you really like but its a bit more than you had hoped to pay, then be sure to watch this because I can\'t send it to the bank, and if it ends without a buyer chances are real good I will drop the price and re-list it until it does sell! Two things for sure - it will get sold sooner rather than later, and that\'s better for both of us.
