What are Bristol Wrenches?

Bristol spline screws look like Allen (hex) screws but they are not... You need the right key for these screws. While you could modify screwdrivers to work, if you don't do the job right, you could damage the screw and then it will be hard to get them out.

I have a few Bristol Wrench sets in stock and I will make these available for sale. Each set has 9 keys. These are:

The first number is the diameter in thousands of an inch. The second number is the number of flutes (4 or 6).

Why do you need the Bristol Wrenches?

A number of important screws in the Realist camera body require a Bristol wrench. These include the screw to remove the pick up spool (left picture, right) and the screw to loosen and adjust the focus (left screw in left picture). The Realist red button viewer also needs Bristol wrench, for the screw that tightens the interocular adjustment (often found loose). Note: Some earlier Realists have a hex screw.

No serious Realist or Revere repairman can be without these!
