Beautiful, Very Rare Hamilton Ohio Tile, Playful Cherubs, Dog, 12 By 6 Inch For SaleA beautiful and rare Hamilton Tile Works pottery tile with a playful scene of cherubs and a largedog. One cherub is riding the reluctant dog while two are pushing him from behind, and two are pulling him with a rope from the front, while a couple of others can barely be seen in the background. One who is pulling him looks to be a faun, with goat legs. The back says "Hamilton Tile Works Co., Hamilton Ohio." This fascinating tile is 12 inches long; 6 inches wide and about 5/8 inch thick. It has a few tiny flakes in theglaze -- on theedge andon one cherub's lower leg and foot (see photos). The tile is fromthe late 1800s. Hamilton Tile Works was in business 1883-1901.
