Beautiful, Working, 1930's Zenith Bakelite Tube Radio- 1 Year Operating Warranty:
$230

Beautiful, working, 1930's Zenith bakelite radio. This model 6D-311, produced for the 1939 model year, represets the peak of American deco radio design in bakelite. This is an iconic radio design and was a product of Zenith's chief designer Robert Budlong. A beautifulmelding of curves, it doesn't have a straight line on it anywhere. Excellent luster, a gorgeous, marbled chocholate brown bakelite, swirled in lighter and darker shades. Photo shows reflections of the backdrop blanket, me, and my camera, there is no marring. There was one tight hairline crack on the bottom surface that has been bonded and stabilized- it is structurally sound- and for the most part sits on the bottom surface going unnoticed. Impeccibly clean, inside and out, it will pass the white glove test- a final detail cleaning is accomplished with Q-tips, all the corners and pocketswere attended to- and the final result shows that off. Unit has the original knobs and clear dial lens. The cardboard back is a professionally made, laser cut, exact reproduction of the original pattern. It plays loudly, clearly with good tone, no hum. The radio has a good (new), safe, power cord, with a period brown bakelite power plug. The radio measures 12 inches long, 7 1/2 high, 6 deep.

As with all my radios, the luster and sheen on the bakelite is natural, exhibiting the original characteristics of the bakelite when newly made....no coatings (permanent or temporary), sprays, or oils are used to glam it up. All radios sold have had preventative electrical maintainence, so that they perform as well in the foreseeable future...as they do when you first get them. I stand behind the components I've repaired, parts and labor- for 6 months. After that- free labor for 6 months. Why would you bother with someone who says they've "restored" the radio and then tell you you are buying "as is"- and why would someone's warrantee be worth anything if you can't find them again on ? The insides of my radios are given the same careful attention as the outsides are.

Very well packed Fed Ex insured ground shipping is $21 within the continental US (shipped at a loss, it costs much more for the packing supplies and the actual shipping). Shipping elsewhere, will be at exact postage.

Celebrating15 years on - selling beautiful, working radios on , since 1998.
