This beautiful Japanese Wood Block Print is one of 2 different prints that were tucked away in an envelope and forgotten for decades.Shielded from sunlight and the elements in the atmosphere, this is in remarkable condition. The paper matte has abit of foxing but none is evident on the print itself. The actual size of the image is approximately 9.5" by 14.25". Purchased in the M. Nakazawa Art Curios and Wood Block Prints in Tokyo. We are told this particular print depicts the Okayama Bell House. We have learned from a fellow er that this is by KAWASE HASUI a popular Japanese Wood Block artist. The fellow er wrote "the signature is a distinctive black loop called "running grass" kanji, signed by the artist himself, not just the characters for his name stamped by the printer. It's down in the corner of the print, not printed across his work. At the bottom of his name, a red circle with small red leaves decorating the top, indicates the official seal he used when he marked his own woodblocks. The print is NOT glued or otherwise attached to the paper backing or folder it was kept in.The outter edge was only lightly tached to the paper to hold it in position. The print moves freely.

We will accept returnsif returned in same sellable condition in same packaging within 14 days maximum. Also, seller must be notified within 3 days of delivery of buyers intent to return. Refund for purchase price MINUS shipping. Buyer will pay return shipping and insurance when applicable with delivery confirmation.

Admittedly, we are NOT experts and have relied on input from a fellow er who did not examine the actual prints.PLEASE review the additional added photos. Earlier this morning (Sunday) we were contacted by another er who requested additional photos which are now posted. You can see these additional photos if you use the scroll bar. This person wrote back after looking at the new photos and we now have consensus that these are original prints made under the supervision of the artist in his lifetime. The two serious collectors disagree on whether the artist hand-signed the signature. Please make your own judgement and we will offer to have the print looked at by someone knowledgable if the buyer(s) would like us to do so and doesn't mind delaying shipping. Thank you we are just trying to be 100% honest.
