Rolex began making dress or day watches in the very late 1930’s/early 1940’s. Most were 30 mm’s across the case with some 33 and 34 mm and very few 35 mm. The vast majority were also in gold or steel and gold. Very rarely they made the oversize case in steel which have become extremely desireable.

This oversize steel Precision has the serial number of 171138 on the outside case back which dates in 1957. The oversize steel case with a beautifully rounded back is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The original Rolex signed crisp white dial has been professionally refinished to highest possible standards and classically Rolex. The raised steel hour batons and steel hands create a stunning piece (please see picture 5 for the colour of the dial and batons and hands) – please note, there’s a very minor dimple in the dial at the edge between the ’10’ and ’11’ – I’ve tried to capture this but it’s too shallow. I’m always happy to show watches subject to your location. The very high grade Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in very good condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this beautiful watch we’ve added a new, high quality, Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches black crocodile skin strap with steel buckle.

Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 12 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order

The Case

The oversize steel case with a beautifully rounded back is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The case measures 35 mm across, excluding the winding crown and 42 mm long including the lugs. The outside case carries the Rolex crown and serial number, 171138 and the inside case is signed ‘Acier Inoxyable’, ‘Rolex Geneva Swiss’ and the case number is ‘9022’.

The Dial

The original Rolex signed crisp white dial has been professionally refinished to highest possible standards and classically Rolex. The Movement

The very high grade Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in very good condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. The movement is signed ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Swiss’, ‘Seventeen 17 Jewels’ and the movement number is ‘N55028’.

The Strap

To complete this beautiful watch we’ve added a new, high quality, Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches black crocodile skin strap with steel buckle.

The Box, Papers and Sonning Warranty

As with the majority of pre-owned watches that are 10 years or older, this particular watch does not come with its original box or paperwork. The watch is 100% genuine and rest assured we provide a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity and provenance of all the watches we sell.

Although there is no original paperwork, we do provide a written invoice and 3 page insurance valuation with the pictures of the watch and all available reference numbers.
