Beautiful Ancient Egyptian Gold Amethyst Scarab Ring 12th Dynasty C. 1820 Bc:
Please view the above video of this ring, it is part of the description. Further photos are included below.
On offer is this beautiful ancient Egyptian gold and amethyst scarab ring. This ring dates to the 12th Dynasty when amethyst scarabs were popular. Most excavated examples like this one, tend to be simple and without an inscribed seal or cartouche. The gold ring (band) is of simple crescent form, with tapered ends that fit within the central piercing of the scarab. The scarab is able to swivel. A similar amethyst gold and scarab ring can be seen in the British Museum (CLICK HERE), with others in the Met. This is an excellent and very rare early Eyptian finger ring of a type that seldom appears on the art market. We were fortunate enough to be able to acquire it from an old private collection from France along with other early Egyptian jewellery.
