Beautiful Antique 1840 Framed Silk Needlework Memorial Lady Painted Face & Hands:
Beautiful Antique 1840 Framed Silk Needlework Lady Painted Face & Hands MemorialHere is an outstanding silk needlework, circa 1840, in its original gold gilt frame. It is a very detailed picture of a beautiful young woman standing at a memorial to "Werter". This is an exquisite needlework, stitched entirely in silk. The lady is just wonderful. She's wearing a romantic empire waist dress with a pretty pink-and-ivory bow in front. Her hat has a fancy pink-and-ivory ribbon that matches her shoes. Her face and hands are delicately painted. Behind the memorial is a weeping willow tree, and behind the lady is a little grove of trees and bushes, along with a bench. What a variety of stitches on this one! The colors are very nice too. This needlework is in excellent condition with no holes, tears, or stains. It is in a nice original gold gilt wooden frame with lovely details in the molding. The frame has a few age-related stress cracks, but none of them go all the way through, and the frame is still structurally sound. On the back is a wire for hanging, and an old piece of matte board glued to the frame. (My guess is that it may have been added at some point to reinforce the board.) The glass is in excellent condition. This needlework measures approximately 13" by 11 1/2" not counting the frame, and 15 3/4" by 14 1/2" counting the frame. Overall, a beautiful needlework in excellent condition. Thanks for looking! Please note, the shipping quoted is for the lower 48 states, and I only ship to US locations.
