Beautiful Antique 19th Century Violin-gorgeous One-piece Back-no Reserve For Sale
This beautiful antique 19th century violin is offered to the highest buyer. The violin bears the following label from the shop of E.R Voigt of London. I think it is a dealer's label and I doubt this violin was made by E.R. violin is a bit of a mystery. I believe it was made in the first half of the 19th century maybe around 1830. It has a grafted and bushed scroll attached to a modern, highly flamed neck, which would be expected for a violin of this age. It could be English, although I cannot be certain. I am quite convinced it is not German or French, and I have no reason to believe it is Italian. It shares some characteristics with London violins of this period, including the scroll, wood and varnish. The back, in particular, is a stunning slab-cut single piece of fabulously figured maple. There are present some strikingly original and unique attributes which should aid in identification. Specifically, there is some asymmetry in the placement of the ffs with the bass sound hole shifted slightly toward the middle of the instrument. The violin is in very good condition with only some repaired cracks to the pegbox, some small repaired rib cracks near the endpin and a small repair to the back. The repairs all seem to be solid and stable. The pegs hold well. The violin is set up to play. The tone is clean, pure and bright. This violin has the brilliance and power to be heard and penetrate. It is a high energy, juicy tone with complex harmonics and an open accessible sound. It can be played with a feather light bow and produce a clean and penetrating sound, and when pressed can stand up to even the most aggressive bow. The raw energy, super
dynamics and complex layers of rich colors are the elements that make this an

cascades of elegant overtones, building and ringing with presence and sustain.
