Beautiful Antique Tin Box Parke's Gold Camel Tea Ladies Cupid C1910 Parkes Rare For Sale
Beautiful Antique Tea Tin with Romantic Scene
This rare and beautiful tin box once contained Parke’s Gold Camel Tea, and likely dates to 1900 - 1910. Gold-ish colored background, with lovely gatherings of rose motifs around the base, and the lid is sublimely decorated with a romantic scene of two young women, a young man with a lyre, and a little cherub or cupid in the background. So the Grecian flair delights as well. Pleasing long rectangular shape, with hinged lid for trinket box design – was likely intended for use as a glove box after product was consumed. From L.H. Parke & Co. in Philadelphia and Pittsburg. The tin was made in England.
The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear, some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and soiling, some minor dents and dings, etc. An area of early rust on the lid, near edge. Some clusters of early rust spots on one end of base. Light-ish patina inside and on bottom, considering the age, with some scratches on the inside of the lid, and on the bottom of the tin around logo area. Logo area dips in a little, probably from the imprint. Hinges are well attached and move freely, tin opens and closes fine.
Again, condition issues of note:
Approximate size of tin is about 9 7/8” by 4.25” by about 2 3/8” tall.
The tin is empty.
