This is a beautiful Art Nouveau / Jugendstilbrooch pin, circa 1900-1910.

The brooch is made of silver and is in the form of two dragonfly's. Each dragonfly is set with a clear eight cut paste stone to the body anda little rose cut paste stoneto each tip of the tail, the eyes are set with little ruby cabochon stones. The wings of the dragonfly are decorated with the most beautiful blue enamel. The brooch is German in origin and bears the dragonfly mark for Meyle & Mayer of Pforzheim, Germany. The brooch is also marked with a '900' grade silver mark along with the word 'Depose'. I am not sure if the brooch originally had a little pendant to the bottom or if the applied lozenge to the back of the tail tipswas put there during making to strengthen the piece at that delicate point. The brooch is in absolutely superb condition and weighs 3.9g.
