Beautiful Antique Tin with 18th Century Musicians

This beautiful antique tin box has a musical scene on the lid – 18th century musicians play the harpsichord and violin after dinner, while the women and children enjoy their efforts. The base is black with metallic gold artwork that looks like flowering trees. The tin likely dates to the early 1900s and has earned a rich, dark patina over time. The tin is European, probably Dutch.

The vintage wear and patina includes a few small areas of wear and a few small scratches and scuffs – but there is fairly light paint loss for a tin this age. There are some handling marks, normal vintage soiling, some minor dents/dings, etc. Dark patina on tin. There is a one-inch scratch on the lid that looks like someone may have tried to darken or restore. Some dark patina inside, and some small rust spots here. Bottom dark with patina, a couple of crease-like dents here. Possibly some small rust spots here and there elsewhere. Hinges are well attached and move freely. Tin opens and closes fine, though lid wants to pop up slightly on the left front side.

Again, condition issues of note:

· Dark patina.

· One-inch scratch on lid that looks to have been darkened or restoration attempted.

· Some small rust spots on the interior.

· Possibly some small rust spots starting here and there elsewhere.

· Lid wants to pop up slightly on left front side.

· A couple crease-like dents on the bottom.

Approximate size of tin is about 8.5” by 5.5” by about 1.5” tall.

The tin is empty.
