Beautiful And Rare Hovasaurus Boulei: Rear Limbs And Tail Vertebrae: Madagascar:
Offered isarareand beautifully preserved item for the specialistreptile collector; a small piece of matrix approx. 6cm X 5cm containing a 5.5cm partial example of the rare aquatic Diaspid reptile Novasaurus boulei, from the Upper Permian Sakamena Formation of Mt. Eliva, Madagascar.
The specimen is a negative mould (despite the convex appearance of the bones) ofboth near-complete rear limbs, with mosttarsals and metatarsals intact, along with a section of some 12 articulated tail vertebrae. Fossils from this site are typically fine negative moulds as the original bone material has dissolved. Altogether a fascinatinglegacy of Permian freshwater life!
Great price for such a delicately preserved permian reptile...........one for the advanced collector
