Beautiful Mid/late C19th Victorian Ornate Gilt Gesso Miniature Frame & Painting For Sale

An elegant mid/late C19th Victorian Empire Style Ornate Gilt Gesso Miniature Frame, with oil painting of a mother & children from a substantial Georgian Country Estate near Clare in Suffolk. This elegant frame has a detailed Acanthus & Foliate decorated 2.75 inch moulding with inner slip. The frame measures 11 inches x 9.75 inches with rebate measurements of 5.75 inches x 4.5 inches and is in good condition for an item almost 150 years old with no damage or losses. The painting within the frame is I believe oil on paper which is laid down on a wood panel. A label on the reverse describes the painting as " Continental (German or Scandinavian C19th Oil on Panel Mother & 2 Children" together with a price tag of £165. I understand that the painting was purchased in the 1980's. A beautiful period frame ideally suited to a fine painting or watercolour, but also a rather quaint C19th painting within, unsigned but highly decorative.
