Beautifully Cased 1913 Vintage 21j Hamilton 992 Rr W/great Ds Dial For Sale
Presented is a very nice example of the Hamilton Railroad grade 992 in a beautiful screw back and bezel yellow gold filled case, with a sharp double sunk enamel dial and great running movement. The lever set open face movement is a 16 's with 21 jewels, featuring nice bright nickle damaskeened plates with gold lettering, gold jewel settings, and gold balance screws. It was just recently cleaned and serviced and it runs great. It is marked "Hamilton Watch Co. Lancaster, Pa. 992 21 Jewels Adjusted 5 Positions Double Roller" and bears the serial number 1048644. The movement looks good, the balance has great motion and a great sound to it, and I really don't see anything of any consequence worthy of comment. The original double sunk enamel dial features boldish numbers with an outer red 5 minute track and a second bit at the 6 position. Signed "Hamilton" in script. No hairlines or chips, basically, no issues that I can find. Nice original bold blued steel hands. The beautiful yellow gold filled screw back and bezel case features a very ornate pattern, evident in the images, with no dents or dings and definitely no wearthru that I can find. Unpersonalized crest. The only thing I see with this wonderful case is the back can be sometimes be a tad hard to start, but if you back screw it a little bit, you older collectors know the drill, it drops down straight and screws right on. Marked "Fahys Montauk 10K Gold Filled". As a last touch, this great looking, great running and very handsome Hamilton comes with a new glass crystal. Nice example of a true railroad classic.
