Belleek Pottery ‘great Horned Owl’ Vase:
This delicate porcelain ‘owl’ vase is a product of Belleek Pottery, a porcelain company that was established by John Caldwell Bloomfield who inherited the family estate, Castle Caldwell, located in Northern Ireland, in 1857. For 158 years the Belleek factory has produced fine Parian porcelain products that are creamy white and characterized by a translucent and iridescent quality. This handsome figural vase stands approximately 7 ¾” tall and features a perched owl sitting atop a branch with yellow-tinted leaves. The intricate features are embossed into the translucent ivory porcelain while the interior of the vase is also tinted yellow. Marked on the base is Belleek’s first or second period green mark that dates the production of this piece to sometime between the years, 1946-1965. Despite a little dirt residue on the interior bottom this fine porcelain piece is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, discolorations or any other evidence of damage or flaws. It is an impressive piece of Belleek pottery.
