his series was designed by Bengt Orup in 1957 for Johansfors. The name TONA means “fade”, and that’s the best thing about this series: the fading colours.

The series consists of an uncertain number of dishes, bowls and vases.

This bowl resembles an ice bucket and has rich green at the rim fading to clear to the bottom- Bottom is signed \"JOHANSFORS ORUP\"

5.75\" tall and 7\" wide at the rim-solid and heavy,weighs 3.3 lbs or 1.4 kg

no chips or nicks-shelf wear scratches to the bottom-have held it up to the light for your examination

.Bengt Orup 1916-1996

Bengt Orup was born in Lindesberg, central Sweden on 13th October 1916. He was a Swedish artist, glass designer and a pioneer of Swedish post-war modernism.In 1950 Orup was awarded the Skåne Art Association Scholarship and, in 1952, became new artistic director of Johansfors Glasbruk (a Swedish glass maker founded in 1891) in Småland. Orup was artistic director there until 1968, when he was invited to serve as guest professor at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1969 he had a solo (glass) exhibition at the Greenwich Theatre Gallery.
Orup \'retired\' from glasswork in 1970 and returned to Domsten and painting. Bengt Orup exhibited extensively throughout his life and examples of his work can be found in Museums and collections throughout the world.
