Big Race Mills Novelty Horse Pinball 1939 Rare Barn Find Needs Restoration 5cent:
$1500.00

It appearsthat Spring is finally here so I should have somefree time to deal with this and find it a new home. I do understand the restoration economics wherethe money spentusually matches the value of the restored unit. Even thoughI prefer to see this restored; my economicshasto be based onmaximizing my return. I have been on since its inception and my assumptions on what I could realize by parting this out as decorative or useable parts:

  • Back Glass; $200+: honestly I would start out by trying for at least double that as it should have appeal to a multitude of collectors. The Art Deco elements with unique graphics on glass that could easily be backlit; should appeal to Pinball & Slot Machine Collectors, Horse Racing, Gambling. A man cave feature for anyone\'s bar back.
  • Play Field; $100: It is filthy but the graphics appear complete or at least complete enough to recreate or over paint to restore. Another 1 off item that should appeal to the same group of collectors
  • 7 Slot Coin Front; $100: High designArt Deco casting; unique and a 1 off in the Mills Novelty genre
  • 2 Locks & Keys from front panel; $100
  • Wood Trim off cabinet; $50
  • Misc control boxes; $50 each
  • Original Manual; $25
  • MD metal slot tag; $50

Having researched for nearly a month now and have not found any other examples on the net. Would be a beautiful machine restored and have to imagine that a collector would promotetheirs onthe web if there were any out there. From minimal information gleaned, evidently it was a unique machine that wouldn\'t have suited very many establishments due to itssize.

Rare in having a 7 nickel coin slot that somehow communicated to the game thatthere were 1-7 players. Don\'t know if it would work with only oneplayer or not.

I have an 8 page original instruction booklet describing how to set up and service BigMills Race Table. It has two photos with parts identified on the internal panels. Probably not detailed enough for a restoration but gives and idea of what did what inside.

I also have 2 keys for locking the front panel.

Thisis a true barn find as you tell from the photos. It has some greatArt Deco metal castings anda great colorful graphic head that is in good physical condition. I listed with a high price and will consider offers based both on price and pickup arrangements.

Would hate to part this out and sellonly as decorativepieces so hopefully there is someone with the vision and skills to restore this rarity.

Machine is not shippable and any trucking arrangements need to be made and paid for by the buyer.

Contact me for payment methods to pay on pickup.

Due to laws regulating the sale of antique slot machines, I, as the seller, will not sell to members in the states of Alabama, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nebraska, South Carolina, and Tennessee. offers from members residing in any of these states will be canceled. Buy It Now transactions with buyers residing in these states will be considered void.

Terms: All my items are used/vintage and described to the best of my ability. I test or examine everything and tend to point out problems more so than the positive attributes. I do minimal cleaning, especially on collectibles, as I don\'t want to ruin any patina or hide an items true condition. I am not an expert in everything that I sell and I assume the buyer has at least a working knowledge of what they are looking to buy. Please use the photos as the ultimate guide to an items condition.

Shipping: Shipping cost is a necessary evil of buying over the net; even more evil now that takes a cut on the shipping charges. Being a small seller I am at the mercy of the shipping carriers and do not receive any huge discounts. I am always looking for savings on my end and if I can switch carriers; recycle packaging/packing materials, etc (while maintaining level of service) I will do so.

Best Offers: I allow offers on all of my BIN listings but be warned that this is not an invitation for low ball offers. I try to price my items at what they\'re worth but being unique (vintage); there is sometimes some wiggle room. Whether I accept any Best Offer will depend on many factors; price of course but also how it fits into my schedule or whether you\'re considering more than 1 item. Please don\'t expect a serious response to a non serious offer.

International Sales: I now offer select items via \'s Global Shipping option. All cost for customs are the responsibility of the buyer and shipping times are typically longer as the package must be delivered first to the partner before they forward it to the buyer.

Downsizing is my goal so please only offer if you\'re certain an item suits your needs. Returns are accepted only in instances where an item is not as described. I am able to combine nearly any two items (or more) for savings on shipping cost. I\'ve never seen a shipping calculator intelligent enough to truly flesh out the best option so please contact me if you\'d like a quote.
