Bill Tarr Bronze Martin Luther King Sculpture Paul Evans Brutalist Style Listed For Sale
Here's a Great Abstract Geometric Bronze Sculpture by World Famous Artist Bill (William) Tarr. This is one of three Bronzes by Tarr that I'll be listing today so be sure to check my other sales. Bill Tarr (1925-2006) is best known for his monumental public sculpture installations such as the Holocaust Memorial in Washington, DC, and the full-size version of the work presented here - the Martin Luther King Memorial at Lincoln Center in New York City. Just google "Bill Tarr Martin Luther King" and you'll see why at least one source has called the work the best memorial in New York City. It's rare to find his sculptures as they tend to be massive public works; the pieces that I have on offer were acquired directly from the artist by a personal friend and likely were made in very limited editions. This work measures approximately 7 and 1/2" square, and weighs a hefty 25 pounds. The patina is darker in person than in the pictures - more of a matte black. It's also dusty and dirty as I do not clean anything so that you can decide how you'd like to do that. I do not see an artist's signature, but with the provenance there's no doubt it was created by Tarr. I'd be particularly receptive to negotiating if you're interested in all three, and could potentially deliver to NYC or Philly, otherwise S.H.I. is $50.00 in the lower 48, Thanks
