This listing is for the old original oil painting featuring a church that you see in the photos. I purchased it from an old antique dealer who thought it was from the early 20th or late 19th century. I think that is probably correct if it is not older. I forgot to ask them where they acquired it but I think it likely that it was from an estate sale in Oregon. It was in Oregon that I purchased it from them. I think that it is probably American but I do not know that it is. I leave it to the buyer to decide where and when it was painted before they purchase it.

The wooden frame measures close to 22 1/8 by 18 1/8 inches. The area of the image exposed by the frame measures close to 19 5/8 by 15 5/8 inches. The framed painting weighs about 2 pounds 2 ounces. The faces and arms on the people are black so I am guessing that the painting could be a form of Black Americana. Perhaps they are black because it is a moonlit scene.

The condition is much like you see in the 14 photos after the general description. Close-ups show 5 small or tiny spots of paint loss near the right hand edge, near a branch on a tree and near the roof on the fore-way of the church. When I hold it up to a bright light shining upon the reverse, I see 5 pin prick holes where the light shine through. The painting and possibly frame looks like they might benefit from a cleaning. The frame feels sturdy. I have not inspected the painting out of the frame so in that respect it is being sold \"as is\" and as described. Otherwise, painting and frame are generally fine and as shown. My photos should give you a good idea of their general condition.

Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there are shadows and reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors.
