About Alison Harwood: Originally trained as a schoolteacher, Alison studied doll making in Europe where she frequently viewed stunning examples of antique dolls and indeed still has a wonderful collection of antique dolls which she uses as reference when painting. She taught doll making in Europe before returning to New Zealand to establish her studio in Wellington and continues to teach doll making. Alison became involved in the New Zealand Doll Federation [our equivalent of the U.F.D.C.] and has been President until earlier this year. Her work is in private collections and museums worldwide and continues to be sought after. Last year Alison joined with Joyce Nicholson to establish 'Alleycat Dolls' bringing together perfection in doll making and costuming. This Bleuette is from the Alleycat collection [#36A].
