Boxed Antique Style Sterling Silver Thread Scissors, Needle Case & Thimble Sewing Set from London
The Thread Scissors measure approximately 2 1/8 inches or 54 mm across from one side of their handles or finger rings to the other when closed and they are 4 1/8 inches or 105 mm in length from the tops of the handles to the ends of the scissors.
The Needle or Pin Case measuresapproximately2 3/8inchesor 60 mm in length from end to end by 5/8 of an inch or 16 mm across the width of its body from the hanging ring to the opposite side, it is also 5/8 of an inch or 16 mm across the width of its lower body from side to side and it is just over 3/8 of an inch or 10 mm deep from back to front.
The Thimble measures approximately 3/4 of an inch or 19 mm across the width or diameter of its lower body from side to side and it is just under 1 inch or 25 mm tall from top to bottom.
The box or presentation case measures approximately 4 1/4 inches or 108 mm across its length from the hinged back to the front by 3 5/8 inches or 92 mm across its width from side to side and it stands 1 7/8 inches or 48 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed.
The scissor handles, needle case and thimble are all made from sterling silver and the inside of the thimble has been gilded or gold plated, the scissor handles and needle case are made in a delightful shape with an antique style embossed or raised relief decoration on both sides of their bodies and the thread scissors have German steel scissor or snip ends, the thimble has also been raised relief decorated and the set is complete with its original blue velvet lined presentation case or box that has a sprung hinged top, the set has Not been engraved with a previous owners owners initials or family monogram and each piece has been impressed with a matching full set of English 925 standard sterling silver hallmarks that include the silversmith or makers mark AN of Ari DNorman along with the Leopard Head mark of the London assay office, it also has the Lion Passant mark of English 925 standard sterling silver along with the stylized date letter for 1990 all as photographed below.

The sewing set has NoDents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holesand NoRepairs that I can find, the three pieces are all straight, the decoration is very crisp, the needle case lidopens with ease and closes tightly, the thread scissors are working perfectly, the presentation case or box also opens and closes perfectly with ease, the silverhallmarks are all still legible although as the sewing set is a used collectableit does havesome extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with thepatina of age that is to be expectedanda gentleclean would not go amiss.PersonallyI think that this antique style sewing set can still be used today and that it wouldmake a superb additiontoany collection, I also think that it has a delightful antique look about it considering it'sage.
