Breathtaking Triple Irish Chain Quilt With Oklahoma Cherokee Provinence 1890 For Sale

This breathtaking Triple Irish Chain dated 1890 was found on a Cherokee Reservation in Oklahoma as part of an estate. Full provinence is inked on the back corner and a hand written paper is sewn next to it with additional provinence. In 1971 it was entered into a contest or exhibition and won a blue ribbon.

Thisquilt is a very well cared for quilt. Or, at least well stored for a very long time. The fabrics usedare all100 % Cotton. The cottonfabrics usedare all high qualityand the whites are true white.There are no signs of spot fading or wear on the fabrics and they are in new condition.Fabrics are true turkey red and double process green with a black geometric print. The turkey red is rich in color and this particular dye registers a flourescent pinkish color when photographed. It is a true rich deep red.

The overall size is81 X92 inches. The cotton batting isthin lightweight and evenly distributed without any sign of shifting. The backing is a loose weavecotton muslin.The1/2 inch full binding is in excellent condition. It has been prolifically hand quiltedat24 perfecttiny and evenstitches per inch (counted both sides).

CONDITION: This quilt is in excellent condition.It is a museum quality piece and has never been washed. There is age related discoloration and discoloration at the fold line on the back. There are no rips, tears or repairs. The condition of the fabrics is good and the colors are even with no evidence of spot fading. There is a no odor to this quilt and it does not appear to have been exposed to smoke, pets or abuse. It has been very well cared for over the years.

It has been carefully stored away from pets and in a smoke free clean environment.
