British army tradition has always valued the bayonet above all other arms, especially in close quarters fighting, as it cannot jam or misfire, and presents a far lower threat to one\'s comrades than the rifle. Every \"Tommy\" underwent intensive training to instill \"the spirit of the bayonet\", as it was believed an aggressive advance on the enemy\'s position would cause fear, panic, confusion, flight, and surrender. British troops of WW1 and WW2 were issued the tried and true SMLE Enfield rifle and accompanying P-1907 bayonet. This British WW1 WW2 SANDERSON P-1907 ENFIELD BAYONET is in very good condition, with some rounding and a small nick to the blade tip, some light sharpening and scattered nicking to the blade edge, some light scattered spot patina and scabbard wear at each side of the blade, some light whitish spotting at the lower left side of the blade, some obscuring to the King\'s crown and model year stamped at the ricasso, some darkening to the handle scales, a ridge of shallow chipping to the left handle scale, some scattered brownish spot soiling at the middle right handle scale, and with some light overall age wear evident(most pictured). Otherwise, the bayonet is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 16.75\" blade that retains approximately 90% of the original blued finish, sports tough hardwood handle scales, and is stamped to the famous \"SANDERSON\" at the ricasso, along with the classic British King\'s crown, the model year, \"1907\", and the date of manufacture, \"5 \'16\" (May 1916). It carries some additional British proof marks at the reverse ricasso, boasts a fully functional \"locking lug\" attachment at the pommel, and is a fine example of a rare, originalBritish WW1 WW2 SANDERSON P-1907 ENFIELD BAYONET.
