Buck Large Prototype For A Custom Fixed Blade Knife W/ Elk Horn Handle Coa For Sale
This isavintage Bucklarge bowie Prototype for a Custom Fixed Blade Knife w/ Elk Horn Handle and COA signed by Charles T. Buck.The COA reads: "This letter is to affirm that this large bowie knife was made by the late Frank Buck of Buck knives, Inc.. The knife was made with the help of Frank's friend, Rick Leonhardt, in the early 1960's. The 11 5/8" blade is of high carbon steel and is satin finished. It bears the owner's name, -Rick-, in bronze on the left side. The knife is not stamped Buck but is a Buck knife. The backbone of the blade has a 1/8" band of bronze brazed to it and it has a blood groove on both sides. The guard is of aluminum and bone hard spacers with a brass face. The pommel is of aluminum and the handle is elk horn." The COA is dated June 1, 2004.It also comes with a letter signed by Richard "Rick" Leonhardt as shown. As stated in the COA, themeasurement from the tip to where it meets the handle is 11 5/8 inches. Overall length is approximately 17 1/4 inches. It has scratches and marks on the blade as shown -no sheath -scratches on the metal parts of the handle as shown.-tried to represent condition wellin the photos. Please see the photos below. In case the letter from Mr. Leonhardt is not legible for some viewers - The letter from Richard "Rick" Leonhardt states in part..."blade was made from low grade carbon hot rolled steel and will not hold an edge...The prototype is not perfect like the real knife made for the customer..."
