An English headmaster and scholar, Thomas Godwin (1587-1642) was the First Fellow of Pembroke College as well as chaplain to the Bishop of Bath and Wells. He wrote several schoolbooks, among them this c. 1690 now offered for your consideration: Romanae historiae anthologia recognita & aucta. An English exposition of the Roman antiquities.

Condition notes: Acceptable/as is. This octavo, measuring 7 inches by 5 ½ inches, is bound in calf. Boards and spine rubbed, Title page and first page lacking, chip to page 25, intermittent marginalia in an old hand. This is an ideal reference for the working scholar interested in a 17th century English perspective on ancient Roman history.
