c1680 Fantastic German Silver Double Handle Porringer:

Presented is a fantastic old silver porringer. This is a very old piece, dating
to the 1600s, we believe it to be circa 1680. The porringer is likely German,
and certainly European. The porringer is made in a classic form, with a ribbed
design around the sides and double scroll form handles.

This piece is in great overall condition, particularly considering its age.
There are a few minor dings here and there to the ribbing around the sides,
which could be professionally removed. There is a little cut mark in the base,
where this piece was tested for silver at some point in the past. There is a
very small pinpoint hole worn through the bowl itself. There are some minor
splits where the handles join the body.

This piece is stamped with what looks like the German hallmark for the city
of Augsburg, as well as another mark possibly for a maker, and a zigzag assay
mark. This piece is nitric acid tested and guaranteed at least 800 purity
silver.

The porringer measures about 6 ½ inches from handle to handle, or about 4 ¾
inches in diameter. The porringer stands about 2 inches tall.

The porringer weighs 133 grams or 4.7 regular ounces.
