I have been very fortunate to have been able to purchase a single owner estate of very beautiful and choice,mostly French Empire period to Napoleon III porcelains, circa 1800 to 1870. This listing is for a pair of circa 1840 French Old Paris vases. These very handsome vases measure 12 1/4 inches or 31 cm high and is 8 inches or 20 cm wide.

These beautiful vaseshave as their main decoration paintings of young boy pages holding falcons. Each is elaborately dressed in Renaissance period clothing. Each vase is signed by the French artist and porcelain painter "SIMONET"under each painting. Around the vase is a gilt gold leafing oak branch each holding a full figured song bird.

There is also heavy applied gold to the foot and rim of each vase. Each vase has a painted landscape on the back. One a lake scene with castle ramparts on a distant hill. The other with the same castle in a closer view.

Each vase has an impressed "CR" and "663" on the base.

The vases are in excellent condition. One of the full figured song birds has a small chip on its beak. The applied gold, so often worn, is in amazing condition. A colorful and elegant pair.
