Offered foryour considerationis thisreally scarce example of Hugo Lonitz German majolica glaze pottery. It is a centerpiece compote featuring a figural cherub holding a clam shell. The base is a tree stump with plants and leaves. This piece measures 14 1/4\" high, 9\" across at the top and 5 3/4\" at the base. The bottom has the maker\'s two fish incised mark and numbered \"1221\".The compoteis in very good estate condition but not without flaws. There are a couple of base chips (see photo of the largest) and an oldrepair on the shell. Please check the last photo to evaluate--I don\'t find it to be distracting but certainly a better restoration would help. This is a special example for any serious collection and offered without reserve. The cost of U.S. insured shipping and proper packing varies with your postal zone.
