Very Striking Yellow Antique Basket Pattern Patchwork Quilt From Massachusetts Estate, Hand Quilted, c.1900

DESCRIPTION:Antique patchwork quilt c.1900. Very nice appearing EARLY BASKET PATTERN. Scans show it all. Bright antique yellow material for all the pieces is very striking. Machine pieced, but NICELY HAND QUILTED.

This is a New England quilt, c.1900, although the pattern gives it a much earlier appearance, e.g. before the Civil War.

The fabric is perfect on this one, with no wear. Unfortunately, however, this one was washed and the color bled a bit during washing onto the white background. It could be tolerated depending on your purposes and it may be possible to correct this problem with some careful bleaching or other corrective action.

In any event, a full size early quilt measuring 60\" x 76\". GIVEN THE EARLY PATTERN, APPEARANCE, & AGE OF THIS QUILT, IT WOULD ALSO BE A PERFECT, ECONOMICAL ACCESSORY FOR ANY CIVIL WAR RE-ENACTOR, EVEN AS IS. Especially for CONFEDERATE REENACTORS, but also Union soldiers, it looks like something a mother would have made and sent her son off to war with. It would really look the part to be carried as a blanket roll across your chest or to actually use for warmth in your tent !!!

And for the quilt collector, it is a nice looking, antique quilt, even as is, for use, for display, or for a background for a period collection. Also of course, could be used in craft projects or for cut-up items and projects.
