C.1900 Eagle Roller Mill Company Sign, New Ulm, Minn. :
An original circa 1900 "Plant of Eagle Roller Mill Company". Sign. In the original old frame. Measures 32 1/2" by 21". At the bottom of the litho of the Plant is the following. -- " Plant of Eagle Roller Mill Company New Ulm, Minn. Manufacturers of Daniel Webster and Gold Coin Flours, Daily Capacity Wheat Flour 5,000 Barrels Rye and corn Products, 400 Barrels, Elevator Capacity 2,600,000 Bushels." --- This sign consists of a background sheet on which this was printed and the factory lithograph is on a separate sheet and laid/glued(I assume)on top of that sheet. All original as it was first made. Under the litho of the factory in the bottom right corner is printed in tiny script is "American Lithographic Company New York". ----- Condition: The original old frame has a couple of very small chips otherwise it is in great condition. The background sheet has a small tear along the upper left side, about 1" and barely noticeable otherwise the sign itself is in great condition. The former owner of the sign had the foresightto remove the old acidic backing and replace it withan acidfree foam backing. He also re-enforced the frame with L brackets on the corners. (see pics of the rear of sign) Judging from the steam trains and old car, this sign was made around 1900 to 1910. A great piece of old advertising. If my photos look a little off, it is because I had to take my pictures from a downward angle to avoid camera flash off the glass of the sign. Streaks and spots which appear on the sign photosare actually reflections off the glass and are not really on the sign.
