This very hard-to-find item is a circa 1900 pin-back lapel pin from the I. O. O. F. (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) Lodge No. 579 in Rochester, New York.This item is considered to date to approximately 1900 because the paper label has three patent dates, all in 1894. The design and lettering are black against a beige background. This item measures approximately 17 mm (11/16\") in diameter, and the manufacturer\'s paper label remains inside the back of the pin (Whitehead & Hoag; Newark, New Jersey).
This item is in very fine condition, remaining free of apparent wear and damage. The surface remains bright, with bold design elements. The paper label is in very good condition, remaining white and quite legible. The attachment pin remains sharp and strong, and it and the frame mostly are free of discoloration.
