This spoon commemorates one of the most famous , 9th Infantry Reg, units of the US Army. First organized by the Act of July 16, 1799. Engaged in wars from tyhen thru 1812, Mexican, Civil, Indian, etc..Fought in the Boxer Rebellion in China ,where they acquired the nickname, \"The Manchu\'s\". 1899 to 1902, Philippines, Luzon, Samar, and Balangiga where the natives of Samar Island and town of Balangiga, massacred 40 some US soldiers. Retribution against the natives included more massacres . Wikipedia has the details,a most decorated unit. The 9th Inf Reg..
