C1950 Avishai Bezalel Sterling Silver Honey Dish Rosh Hashanah Israel Judaica For Sale
Dates to circa 1950 from Israel. Hallmark on underside of base, including the Hebrew word "Avishai", the craftsman & designer of this piece. 3 inches high, 4.25 inches wide. No damage or repairs, not even the smallest dent/ding or split, in flawless condition.
I can't remember seeing a more beautiful ritual silver object from Israel dating from this era. Stunningly executed filigree work, Bezalel School-style hand acid-etching of flowers and Hebrew words that translate to "flowing with milk and honey", referencing the Land of Israel. For use once a year, on Rosh Hashanah, to dip a piece of apple in honey for "A Sweet New Year". Hole in lid to place a small spoon of your choosing.
I've lost count at the number of kiddush cups by Avishai I've seen over the last twenty years, but I've never seen this honey dish/pot, until now. Quite large and impressive in person.
Insured shipping to anywhere in the USA is $15. Worldwide registered airmail is $28.
