  • November 29, 1775 \"TWO DOLLARS\" Continental Colonial Currency Note.
  • Conservatively graded & certified by PCGS as XF45 with the look of a higher grade.
  • Great looking note for the grade with no problems of any kind, and there are no pin holes.
  • Bold serial number 48772 in red ink with the signatures of Samuel Morris and John Bayard.
  • John Bayard was a Colonel in the Pennsylvania 2nd Regiment during the Revolutionary War - seeing action in the Battles of Brandywine, Germantown, and Princeton where he was cited by General Washington for his gallant leadership in the Battle of Princeton.  He was a member of the state\'s Board of War in 1777, becoming the Head of the Board of War in 1781. He was also named to the Commitee of Safety, and served in The Continental Congress in 1785 and 1786.
  • A much more scarce note. Only 83,611 were printed in 1775 (much lower total printing than most other issues), and not many of those have survived the past 240 years in undamaged condition. Lower denomination notes such as this $2.00 note were extensively used in day-to-day commerce resulting in a much lower survival rate than the higher denomination notes and those that did survive are often well-worn and/or have problems.
  • This is an authentic & historical item that was printed in 1775 during the Revolutionary War, and just a few months before the Declaration of Independence was ratified.
  • Free insured USPS Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation (trackable) to anywhere in the United States.
