THELAST 3BOOKLET SCANS SETSIADDED TO THIS COLLECTION are Illustrated Drafting 5a (1928), Illustrated Drafting 7a (1930) and Spring Summer 2 (1931 or 2). These cost me £160!! THERE ARE NOW four 1920's booklets scan sets in the collection!
IF YOU BUY MORE THAN ONE SELECTION, EACH ONE WILL BE ON A SEPARATEIN AN INDIVIDUALCD CASE. THE COLLECTION AS SUCHIS COPYRIGHT.
The PICTURESare from many booklets in the collection. The LAST imagesare ofthe foundation template &disc cover & inserts.
The booklets date from the1920's (four) to the 1950's. I am continually editing to remove the foxing/age browning from the images. You also get free scan sets offour other dresscutting/draughting systems that are in the public domain in the UK. One has templates at small scale so you can practise the basics before you start with the Haslam. I have added scans of a 1920's booklets on making ribbon flowers etc, which were very popular through for trimming clothes in the first half of the 20thC.
I ALSO HAVE A SAMPLER SET OF THE HASLAM SYSTEM AVAILABLE.The sampler has 9 booklet scan sets on it, 3 from the 30's/40's and 50's. It is a good way to get a general picture of Haslam and you get a discount if you later buy the full collection. ALSO INCLUDED ARE THE FOUNDATION AND TEMPLATES YOU NEED TO MAKES THE PATTERNS.
You have to make up the GRADING TEMPLATE by mounting 3 printouts on heavy card and then drilling grading holes.
If you go to Webshots.com (advanced search, searchby member) pinkemilygraceyou will find files of pictures from the booklets in THE HASLAM SAMPLER .These are small internet file & not the full size ones you will receive. The ones on the disc you will receive are scanned at 300dpi and print out well at 'fit to page' size or a bit larger.
The patterns / fashion designs range from the 1930's to 1950's and, with the Foundation booklets and Grading/Curve Template YOU CAN MAKE ANY OF THE GARMENTS IN A FULL RANGE OF SIZES. The last image is a picture of the template. The uploaded pictures you can view hereare from many booklets from the 20's to the 50's. I NOW HAVE COLLECTED AND SCANNED91 BOOKLETS FROM THIS SYSTEM.
The SYSTEM has two main stages. First you take 14 basic measurements of the person you are designing for. Referring to FOUNDATION BOOKLET(S) you take the various FOUNDATION BLOCKS (bodice, dress front etc) and draft them to size using the BLOCK shape, the MEASUREMENTS and the curves, size marks etc from the TEMPLATE This is all detailed in the instuctions in the foundation books(s). You have now created the blocks of the individual FOUNDATION or TOILE. Now you refer to the various booklets and choose the design you want to create. You now create the FOUNDATION BLOCKS for the individual pattern using the instructions in the booklet you have chosenand the TEMPLATE. At this stage you are ready to pin and cut your fabric out!
I have just finished editing my older scans. I have rescanned quite a few of the earlier booklets I collectedplus a few pages here and there. The general quality is muchimproved. My scanning skills were not so good at the beginning to the project.
