This is agenuineChelsea US Navy 24 hour ENGINE ROOM (E)clock with heavy brass dial and original phenolic case. Theclockwas madebyin Bostonin1942 (Stamped on the movement is 347503).Glass is perfect. The dial is solid brass with a few scratches in keeping with a clock that has sailed the Seven Seas. Has black painted METAL reflector ring (Many later versions were plastic)! This clock has definitely been removed from a "retired" US Naval Vessel. The Phenolic case is in great conditon. Movement is mostly brass with a WALTHAM (US Made) Platform. Comes with US made engraved "Chelsea" winding key. This clock is an excellent timekeeper. (Make sure you get a fullyoperational clock here on ! Repairs for these at the factory typically run well in excess of $400. It's better to buy the best one you can afford instead of trying to "fix up" a broken one. A mechanical clock that doesn't keep accurate time isn't very useful!) Chelsea clocks are still made in Boston, and remainTHE STANDARD in mechanical clocks. Many are still running perfectly after 100 years! This is a terrific "time only" 24 hour clock without the mechanical complexity of a"Striker."
