Chinese Famille Verte/ Noire Enamel On Biscuit Teapot Kangxi Period Sancai C1700:
Kasper Tiggeloven Antiques
A very nice and rare enamel on biscuit teapot from the Kangxi period (1662-1722). This extremely beautiful teapot is made in the colours brown, yellow, green and black. Whether this is considered famille verte or famille noire, I do not 100% know. It has a lovely lobed body decorated with panels of green brown and black flowers on a yellow background. The pot has a wonderful handle and spout made to look like wicker. This is an absolute beauty in immaculite condition. This piece (as well as the other Chinese pieces listed) come from a private collector. Some of the pieces still have their catalog sticker on the bottom (in this case no 4193). Other pieces of this collection will also be listed.
The teapot is 15 cm in height and 12.5 cm in width from body to spout. The piece is unmarked (although there is a fingerprint mark to the bottom, so that is potentially a potters mark). The piece has some staining from the tea on the inside, but the piece is in absolute excellent condition.
