This listing is for a very collectable vintage Victorian Penny Toy, 'Rat caught in a trap'. The slide mechanism, when pushed in, closes down the cage door on the rat. Penny toys, now widely collected, date from 1895 to 1914 and were mostly made in Nuremberg. Tin plate and other materials were used and the size kept to about 3 inches/100mm, 4 ½ inches is the length of this toy.
