CIVIL WAR 6th PLATE TINTYPE ~ BROTHERS OR PAIR OF SOLDIERS
Offered is a 6th plate Tintype of a pair of soldiers, possibly bothers. The image is housed in a thermoplastic case by S. Peck & Co.. Case is a Berg 3-67 Geometric. Some Gold gilding noted on the uniforms and some tinting to the cheeks also noted.
Image is nice with typical surface marks and emulsion residue. The holes in the plate are where the sheets of iron were punched together when purchased by the photographer. Nothing was wasted in those days, and the photographer would use these when nearing the end of his supplies. Case has some nicks and small scratches. The metal clip on the lower case has snapped off, so the case does not hold close. Overall great presentation and would make a fine addition to someone’s collection.
