antique buckle is circa 1861-65. It is cast brass featuring “Pattern of 1851”
consisting of a spread wing eagle holding the “E. Pluribus Unum” banner with 13
stars and has a brass tongue on the back. The buckle is approx. 3 3/8”x 2
1/16”. These are sometimes called eagle sword belt plates. The buckle ha some
tarnish on the front & back.
