Confederate 6 Pounder Smoothbore Case Shot

With Bormann Time Fuse / Field Altered

This is a Confederate 6 pounder smoothbore case shot This shot is a reproduction of the original shot found at the Battle of Shiloh. At Shiloh, there were 58 cannons in action which were capable of firing this shot out of 108 artillery pieces. The 6 pounder smoothbore cannon made up a large percentage of Confederate artillery at Shiloh. This case shot was fired and detonated but failed to burst due to a small powder charge and only a crack occurred in the side. The original shot was found in a Confederate battery position. The cannoneer must have picked up this cases shot on the field and drilled a hole through the fuse using a vise and bit to receive a paper time fuse so it could be used again. There have been many bormann fuseeswith holes drilled in them found a Shiloh and may of been a common practice here.I strive to make these reproductions resemble the original shot as close as possible. This shot has imperfections and is not perfect. This reproduction has all the imperfections as original.
