CIVIL WAR R&C MARKED MOD 1840 CAVALRY SABER w/ SCABBARD & CHAIN TYPE HANGER:

This is a very good R&C Model 1840 Cavalry saber and it\'s original scabbard that still has a flat-link chain hanger . It came on it so I left it there .The scabbard has a few small dents as would be expected , but nothing that detracts from the display of the saber at all . R&C or Rohrig & Co. were a Solingen sword making Co. from around 1848 to at least 1885 , and they are fairly scarce sabers . The blade has a few small nicks on the edge and some age spotting but is otherwise in great shape . I made a Confederate soldiers repair to a grip that needed a re-wrap . I put brown leather on a new cord wrapped grip (as the originals were done) and I wrapped the leather with a single strand of iron / steel wire wrap as any good ole Georgia boy would do in that time period . I aged the leather a bit to give it a used look . These were purchased and used by the north and the south during THE WAR FOR SOUTHERN INDEPENDENCE .
