Gablonz area by artisans for the Neiger Bros. Unsigned. The Egyptian series of Neiger
jewelry pieces was inspired by the discovery of King Tutenkhamun's tomb in the
1920s and the fashion for all things Egyptian which this discovery prompted.
The jewelry produced by the brothers was not signed but is recognized by their
style. This brooch has all the attention to detail which made their designs
outstanding amongst their would-be competitors. The painted enamel work is
finely applied and the Egyptian symbolism is varied and precise.
This is a rare Neiger design which is hard to find and
which is made even rarer by the excellent over-all condition of the enamel.
designs are highly sought after and becoming increasingly rare to find as more
collectors buy them to keep rather than to sell on and prices have risen
sharply recently as more people discover their unique quality of style. With
the advent of WW2 the brothers escaped to Prague but were captured and sent to
the extermination camp at Auschwitz from which they did not return. Through
these tragic circumstances their production was abruptly stopped which adds to
