Carlos Merida Serigraph, 1945 Series Mexican Costume:
Wonderful matted and framed serigraph (screen print, silk screen) by well-known Mexican Modernist artist Carlos Merida, from his 1945 series "Trajes Regionales Mexicanos" (Mexican Regional Costume"). Merida renders regional native dress and dance costumes in a way that is both documentary and beautifully decorative.
This series has 25 images, each in an edition of 1,000. This is #9, titled under the image "Desposadas de Fruxpan, Estado de Jalisco", and signed "Carlos Merida" in the print.
Print size under the black mat: 10" x 13"; size with brown wood 3/4" strip frame: 17 1/4" x 21 1/4". Print in excellent condition, with the exception of a few tiny yellow gold spots, which look like they are one of the colors of the printing ink in the image itself, and are from the printing process, not any foxing marks. _gsrx_vers_420 (GS 6.0.8 (420))
