This beautiful candy dish is a piece of carnival glass. Carnival glass is pressed or blown glass, produced in a wide array of colors, patterns and shapes and was first produced circa 1908 until approximately 1925. Carnival glass was inexpensive to make and was often given away as prizes at carnivals, thus the name, \"Carnival Glass\". Many companies such as Fenton, Imperial, Westmoreland, Northwood, US Glass, Dugan, Millersburg, etc. produced carnival glass during the early part of the 1900\'s. The maker of this particular piece is unknown, but it is of a high quality of manufacture. The dish measures approximately 5 1/2\" in width x 2\" in height and has an iridescent or rainbow-like appearance with stippled (engraved dots) rays radiating from the center of the bowl with a graceful ruffled or crimped rim. Due to the myriad of colors (marigold, amethyst, cranberry) it is difficult to determine the predominant color. This dainty dish is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. It does have some minor scratches and dings to the exterior, which are most likely manufacturing flaws, and a few spots of the iridescent paint is worn. This candy dish is an elegant piece of carnival glass that simply shimmers when exposed to light and would make a lovely addition to any table setting.
