This card case was made in Indian in the latter half of the 19th century. It's made of fragrant sandalwood - lift the lid and it still has a lovely musky aroma.
The case is deeply carved on all sides with Indian temples, foliage and, on one side, a crocodile with a curly tail. It has a lovely patina.
It has a slip top lid and measures 84 x 108 x 18mm.
It's in good condition with no cracks or chips. The only 'defects' are a couple of dark spots on one side, and the joints are a little loose - the joints may have been reglued at some time.
