“I am My Beloved’s, and My Beloved is Mine” Shim HaShirim/Song of Songs6:3
“Ani L\'Dodi...” is the most well known sentence from Shir HaShirim, the “Song of Songs” written by Shlomo HaMelech (King Solomon). This book of the Megillah is written as a beautiful, romantic declaration between a wife and husband, as well as being an allegory of the eternal love between the people of Israel and G-d. \"Chalom\" in Hebrew means \"Dreams,\" like that of Yakkov Aveinu (Jacob our Father) who dreamed of angels traveling up and down a ladder between heaven and earth. The gestural qualities of these paintings explore the dreamlike spiritual qualities of the Hebrew letters.
