Chase Art Deco Copper Tobacco Humidor:
Chase catalog # 857, this popular humidor was sold by Chase from 1936-1942 in three finishes. This is the copper with white bands. It is 6” high and 5 ½” wide. This was made for pipe smokers and the large size would have made it easy to fill the pipe. Originally a sponge would have been affixed inside the handle of the cover to keep the loose Tobacco fresh.
Condition is good. There are some upward dents in the top of the handle. The copper color is uneven, areas are streaked and other places speckled. Maybe a result of the clear coating Chase applied is wearing unevenly. There is one very shallow dent along the top edge of the cover, it can be felt more than seen. Chips to the white paint. One very shallow dent to the rim of the base piece, but No splits. It has the older large Chase mark.
