Only these two were spliced together, the others are all one piece. They are about 19 inches long
Equipment and Painting ARA 9/25/15- this one St. Paul MN. 46 inches- has separated the lastseveral inches- see picture. Could probably be repaired but is damaged. The father-in-law of the C&O Shop Super. was a member of this group, which I believe is how it came to beincluded with this HuntingtonC&O Employee book.
Plus- there are a few spliced and damaged photos from the same era that I will send.
Leather portfolio is in condition as shown- stains, wrinkling , etc. but all things considered, not bad for 90 years old. ALL MEASUREMENTS ARE APPROXIMATE.
I have really enjoyed looking over these pictures. The clothing, the background, but most of all the faces- I spent hours going over these pictures. I thought about selling them individually, as I realize this is costly, but I really feel these needed to stay together as a collection. What you do with them is up to you! Prints could be made, share with fellow collectors, place in a museum, etc. It is a very neat piece of history.
This is one of hundreds of listings I will have over the next several months. This item was part of an estate sale purchase my dad made in 1968 and the collection has remained in their boxes since that time. I have really enjoyed cataloging the items and learning more about railroad collectibles!
The collection belonged to E.A. Murray who was shop superintendent of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, retiring in 1945. He was a second generation railroad man, his father having served in themid to late1800\'s. E.A. Murray served over 50 years in various positions, among them Master Mechanic. His collection includes letters, blueprints, pictures, brochures, reference book and much more, the majority of which spans 1910 through 1945. The majority of the items are Chespeake and Ohio Railway related.
I am not an expert on these items and will list with the best description I can provide. The rest will depend on the pictures. I can tell you for certain the origin of the collection! Questions- please ask!
